The ECA Men’s T20 League A Division continued in spectacular fashion last weekend as cricket fans witnessed explosive batting performances, intense rivalries and a dramatic last-over finish that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

Week two of the competition delivered everything expected from top-flight domestic cricket, with Friends Club and Al Barkat emerging victorious after two entertaining encounters that showcased the growing quality and competitiveness of Eswatini cricket.

Friends Club Punish MCC with Dominant Batting Display

The opening fixture of the weekend saw MCC lock horns with Friends Club in a high-scoring encounter. After winning the toss, MCC elected to field first, hoping to restrict Friends Club on a batting-friendly surface. However, the decision quickly turned costly as Friends Club’s batting line-up launched a powerful assault from the very beginning.

Friends Club piled up an impressive 182/5 in their allotted 20 overs, setting MCC a daunting target. The innings was headlined by a brilliant knock from Soban Ganiya, who smashed 56 runs off just 31 deliveries in an innings filled with confidence and attacking stroke play. His outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

In response, MCC fought hard in pursuit of the target and showed moments of resilience throughout their innings. However, regular wickets slowed their momentum at crucial stages of the chase. After 20 overs, MCC finished on 160/8, falling 22 runs short as Friends Club secured a deserved victory.

Al Barkat Edge Pak XI in a Nail-Biting Thriller

The second match of the weekend delivered arguably the most dramatic finish of the season so far as Al Barkat and Pak XI produced a thrilling contest that went right down to the wire.

After winning the toss, Al Barkat opted to field first allowing Pak XI the opportunity to set a total. Pak XI responded with a strong batting performance posting 186/6 from their 20 overs and placing immense pressure on the chasing side.

What followed was a thrilling run chase packed with momentum swings, boundaries and tense moments. Al Barkat remained determined despite the mounting pressure and took the game deep into the final over.

With just four deliveries remaining in the match, Al Barkat required four runs for victory. Moments later, only two runs were needed to seal the contest. Holding their nerve under pressure, Al Barkat successfully crossed the line to complete a memorable three-wicket victory in one of the most exciting matches of the campaign.

The star of the chase was Adam Khan whose explosive innings of 60 runs from only 27 balls shifted the momentum firmly in Al Barkat’s favour. He received valuable support from Uvesh Patel who anchored the innings beautifully with 48 runs off 43 deliveries.
