The much-anticipated Eswatini Cricket Association Senior Men’s A Division T20 League came to a thrilling conclusion with Classy Friends Club emerging as the champions, upsetting the top-seeded Pak XI in a dramatic turn of events. What was supposed to be a triumphant moment for Pak XI turned into a stunning upset as Friends Club showcased their determination and tactical prowess to claim the title.
Despite Pak XI holding the top position with an impressive net run rate, Friends Club, positioned at number 2 with 8 points, knew they had to play strategically in their final match against the formidable Radioshop team. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Friends Club executed their plan to perfection, putting up a competitive total of 189 runs in 18.2 overs.
In a display of skill and tenacity, Friends Club then proceeded to dismantle Radioshop’s batting lineup, restricting them to a mere 41 runs in just 8.1 overs. The comprehensive 148-run victory not only secured the championship for Friends Club but also propelled them to the top of the table, relegating Pak XI to the second spot.
Awards were presented to recognize outstanding individual performances during the league. Safwan Bagas of Friends Club was named the best batsman, while Adil Butt of Pak XI was honored as the best bowler and most valuable player.
The final moments of the tournament were bittersweet for Pak XI, who had to settle for the runners-up trophy after coming so close to clinching the title.
